The sacred art of sound healing that&rsquo;s tipped to go mainstream.

George MacPherson, an intuitive sound meditation practitioner (and Ibiza devotee) based in Brooklyn, New York is passionate about the potential impact of sound and vibration as a tool for increasing awareness and connectivity. The PR consultant and environmental advocate believes that by tapping into our true frequency through active listening we can explore a level of heightened sensitivity to sound, directing us toward healing from within. Macpherson&rsquo;s <a href="https://www.soundofthetimes.org/">sound sessions</a> - at New York&rsquo;s ultra-hip Happie Space and 74Wythe - regularly sell out and demand is at an all-time high. &lsquo;Sound healing speaks to the part of us that knows we&rsquo;re part of something greater,&rsquo; says Macpherson. &lsquo;The people who attend my groups are conscious of the way they tread upon the planet and the impact they have. It&rsquo;s important to note that it is the sound itself that is the healer. I&rsquo;m not responsible for that. The person listening is an active participant and it is their intention, combined with the sound itself, that is the catalyst for the healing process to begin.&rsquo;

It may be considered nu-age wellness, but sound healing is hardly a new form of therapy. The ancient Greeks used music to cure mental disorders; Australian aboriginal tribes have used the didgeridoo for sound healing for over 40,000 years and throughout history, sound has been used to heal, soothe, invigorate and boost morale. Tibetan (or &lsquo;Himalayan&rsquo;) singing bowls and gongs are a acoustic phenomenon used in religious and spiritual ceremonies for over 6000 years.

In Ibiza sound healing is enjoyed widely, either as a standalone experience or as part of a wider ceremonial happening. <a href="https://jeremiequidu.com/">Jeremie Quidu</a>, a charismatic island dweller who goes freediving in his spare time, is one of Ibiza&rsquo;s most knowledgeable practitioners. Raised in Ibiza by a bohemian French family, Quidu found his first crystal aged 18 after climbing the mystical rock of Es Vedra. This chance discovery set him on a deep journey of crystal wisdom before he began to explore the potential of crystal sound. Instead of Tibetan singing bowls, Quidu uses gongs and crystal bowls to invite the listener into a profound state of relaxation, helping to restore the normal vibratory frequencies of the cells in the body. &lsquo;Tibetan bowls call for alignment and introspection,&rsquo; says Quidu. &lsquo;Crystal bowls are more about the dissolution of the body and the awakening of the inner memory. Crystal bowls invite you to discover the self. I&rsquo;m not a healer. I&rsquo;m expressing a passion directly from my own experience. I am in service to the listener, and I am guiding them to a place where they heal themselves.&rsquo;
