The Dutch photographer loves sunrise swims at Cala Xarraca with Superlungs on repeat

The Dutch fashion photographer Rebekka Eliza shoots editorials, beauty and advertising campaigns here on Ibiza, as well as documenting exclusive events from a fashion perspective. Her personal portfolio explores Ibiza&rsquo;s energy from a sensual, feminine angle.
What are your earliest memories of Ibiza and how did you end up here?&nbsp;
I came here for the first time when I was 21. It was a work trip that got extended and I have felt the pull of the island ever since. I just knew one day I would end up here! It felt like every time I had to leave the island, something called me back. I&rsquo;d already be at the airport, and I&rsquo;d get a call, or someone convinced me to stay, or a I got a job so I couldn&rsquo;t leave.
Where is home on the island and why?
I have been a bit of a nomad over the years, staying with friends or the simple, but lovely family-owned hotel Ses Arcades in the north. Recently I moved into a lovely place near the beach in Siesta, where I&rsquo;ve created my own space to work and be creative.

Sunrise or sunset?
Sunrise. The tranquillity in the mornings, when everything is waking up and there is this really profound sense of serenity. My mind isn&rsquo;t ready for the world that is spinning in the morning, so I need to stay in my peaceful place and take some time to start up.
North or south? City or campo?&nbsp;
North and campo! I have never had so connection much with the parties and the beach clubs. Obviously, there was a time in my life where I explored the edges of the party life, but it was just for a short time.&nbsp; I am a nature person; nature inspires me, gives me peace. I need to breathe the air, hear the birds in the morning, hear the wind that blows through the palm leaves, see the waves. It makes me feel very grounded.&nbsp;

What is your favourite place to eat and why?&nbsp;
Scrambled eggs at <a href="https://preview.lofficielibiza.com/ibiza/four-fabulous-places-to-pick-up-beach-picnic-in-ibiza-this-weekend" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Can Curun&eacute;</a> in the morning. Vegetarian quiche for lunch at Can Guimo.&nbsp; For supper I love the wild salmon at Il Buco in Santa Gertrudis, which is this beautiful little Italian cucina where everything is super fresh and colourful.
Where can we find the real Ibiza?&nbsp;
For me the real Ibiza is sun, sandiness and saltiness.&nbsp; Unwinding at the beach with a book on my towel, hearing the laughter of children playing. Gazing at the glorious clear blue water. Endless, unplanned days in pursuit of nothing.
Favourite beach?
Cala Xarraca. It&rsquo;s a small beach on the road from San Juan to Portinatx with a beautiful rock pointing out in the water. It&rsquo;s very simple and I just love to go there for an early morning swim to the rock, or at the end of the day to dive and read a chapter of a book. But there are&nbsp;so many more beaches to discover; I recently ended up at a beach down south when we doing location scouting that reminded me of an Italian lake. I feel the island always has something new to show and discover.

Describe the magic of Ibiza to someone who has never been?&nbsp;
Ibiza gives you a feeling that just can&rsquo;t find anywhere else in the world. Pure, endless days, joyful creativity and an effortless life. We have made life way too complicated for ourselves! Here we can deconstruct that.
What is a lesson that Ibiza has taught you?&nbsp;
That I need balance. Which can be quite a challenge on this island.
Run me through your ultimate day and night?&nbsp;
Waking up, drinking a coffee, walking with the dogs through the campo fields, going for a <a href="https://preview.lofficielibiza.com/ibiza/road-trips-and-skinny-dips-an-indian-summer-in-ibiza" target="_blank" rel="noopener">swim</a>. Having something to eat along the way. Falling into a conversation that ends with an unplanned dinner somewhere. Meeting amazing people and making new friends.

What music is your island soundtrack?&nbsp;
At the moment that would be Superlungs by Terry Raid
Who&rsquo;s on your ultimate Ibiza dinner party guestlist?&nbsp;
<a href="https://www.isabelmarant.com/es" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Isabel Marant</a>, Sad&eacute;, Salvador Dali, my granddad, Pablo Picasso and Al Pacino.
What or where is your favourite indulgence in Ibiza?
Being able to lose track of time and not worry about it.
What about Ibiza do you miss most when you travel?
Swimming in the turquoise blue water. I love the colour of the sea here, it&rsquo;s so clear, and it has such magnificent tones from aquamarine to deepest green. It makes everything seem beautiful.

What is your favourite island drive?
I think the little ride to Xarraca, the curved roads that wind up and down hills, looking out over fields where the sun light is shining through the pine trees. With some soul music on the radio.&nbsp;
What do only locals know?
That November is very, very nice here.
Best tip for a new visitor?&nbsp;
Don&rsquo;t plan and just go with the flow of the island. You will meet new people all the time if you are open to it, and Ibiza is such a great place to make new connections and new friends.
If I wasn&rsquo;t in Ibiza, I&rsquo;d be&hellip;.
New York, I guess, but just for a couple of days. Then I need to go back to the island life!
