Julien Dossena's latest collection for the Rabanne Spring-Summer 2024 show emerges in a realm of mirage, where timeless myths and artifacts intersect with visionary narratives, and where reality melds with illusion.

For his spring-summer 20024 fashion show, <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/portraits/paco-rabanne-and-his-metallic-poetry" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rabanne</a> 's archaeological expression is anchored in the present by its materiality and its feeling. It is a reflection on the craftsmanship of the first clothes and on the evolution of craftsmanship today. It is also an exploration of the relationship between tactility and sensuality. From one look to the next, the body is adorned and revealed in a provocative way. A powerful feminine representation emerges: statuesque, intrepid and transcending time.
Traditional clothing and coverings such as harem pants, folded scarf tops, draped skirts and shorts are reinterpreted and embellished with geometric embroidery, metallic fringes and lacing. Raw, rustic fabrics mingle with elaborate beadwork, while loose gold threads suggest a certain state of magnified decrepitude. At the same time, we observe other contemporary pieces: well-tailored jackets with gathers on the front, low-cut waists, short sleeves, low waists and a grunge attitude. The draping elements, meanwhile, are inspired by depictions of ancient marble statues &mdash; from the delicate folds of the fabrics to the screen prints that realistically capture the play of light and shadow.
The skin is not simply exposed, it is involved in a material experience. We observe mesh of liquid metal against the leg, the quivering of an assembly of wooden discs and peacock feathers. Beyond the black, gold and silver that are emblematic of Maison Rabanne, gradients of desert tones are offered - among luminous copper and cold shades of blue and lilac. Finally, Dossena revisits Nues, the iconic series by photographer Jean Clemmer in collaboration with <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/remembering-paco-rabanne-a-look-back-at-his-incredible-legacy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Paco Rabanne</a>, featuring almost naked women, except for the assembly of chains that encircle them, cascade and drape their bodies. Both erotic and poetic, these images from 1962 appear on tank tops, one of which is worn with a dress of Swarovski crystals and metallic mesh.
