The Honorary President of the menswear company Canali founded in 1934 has died at the age of 91.

Eugenio Canali, Honorary President of the Canali company in Triuggio, passed away at the age of 91 . In 1953, together with his brothers Giuseppe and Genesio Canali, he took over the reins of the company, helping to forge the formal and contemporary vision of the <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/channels-mens-collection-spring-summer-2024-photo-look" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Canali</a> man. His official portrait appeared on Canali's official Instagram account with a caption reporting the news:

 It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our Honorary President Eugenio Canali. We salute an extraordinary father, man and entrepreneur. The profound impact on the world of men's fashion with his tireless commitment to support "Made in Italy" will be remembered far beyond the confines of the company that he has been able to transform into an emblem of Italian sartorial excellence all over the world. His visionary leadership, his wisdom and above all his ethics will continue to inspire the third generation at the helm of the company and all 1,400 employees who he has always considered part of the great Canali family. He will be forever missed, but never forgotten."

«I started from scratch, I didn&#39;t know the technical details of working raincoats and suits and I had to try to learn quickly from tailors» he said in an interview on Canali&#39;s official website in the Anthology section, «My entry into the family business it dates back to 1953. First of all I tried to give it a rational scheme and the first decision was to concentrate our forces on the production of a single item of clothing: the raincoat. The raincoat was a very popular garment in the late fifties; it was a commonly used garment that protected both from water and from the cold, it can be considered as the ancestor of current sportswear. Subsequently, in January 1970 we decided to go into the production of clothes. Brianza in 1950 was one of the busiest areas of Italy, the people of Brianza have always been considered hard workers. Although I had studied away from those places, I had a hard time moving the company elsewhere, my family&#39;s roots were in Triuggio and a large part of the area revolved around our production. It was interesting to see our American customers coming to Brianza; we worked on Sundays and Mondays, on Tuesday the boss would arrive to check the orders and then we all went to a restaurant in the area to eat our typical dishes. Some old customers still remember it now, fifty years later».
