The first detail that catches your attention as you enter the lobby of the Mandarin Oriental Palace Luzern is the scent that floats in the air: citrus and spicy, with a woody touch, sophisticated, persistent and light, totally mood enhancer. Then there's the reflected light from the lake, streaming in through the large windows. Of its Belle Epoque origin , the hotel retains the monumental sense of space, the imposing facade on the lake, the floors of the common areas in terrazzo and checkered black and white marble, but the tone is set by the elegant and cozy renovation, at the time itself contemporary and timeless, in a restful palette that goes from white to grey, ecru, dull pistachio, greige to chocolate via leather and caramel, which were worked on by the Iwan Buhler architecture studio and the London studio of Jestico+Whiles design.
The rooms project the gaze towards the balconies and the blue of the lake, with oak wood mosaic parquet, ultra-soft beds, leather armchairs and poufs. The furniture ( Molteni) is in light wood, almost subliminally evoking the Art Deco style and the Orient, with touches of white marble and satin brass, the lighting is relaxing and diffused, the bathroom is in marble and light gray stone , the amenities leave the skin saturated with the notes of Philosykos by <a href="https://www.instagram.com/diptyque/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Diptyque</a> , for styling there are the Supersonic hair dryer and the Corrale straightener by <a href="https://www.instagram.com/dyson_es/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dyson</a> , and modern cotton yukatas to indulge in the Zen calm of the room&hellip;
The presidential suite, under one of the copper-domed towers, with its terrace and oval hall equipped with a telescope, is the ideal point of view to enjoy the beauty of the snow-capped peaks of the mountains surrounding the lake.
At the spa , the facials, performed with impeccable technique (Mandarin oblige!), use the products of the Swiss brand Bellefontaine based on edelweiss extracts with a marked antioxidant action and booster of collagen and elastin production.
The Mandarin Oriental Palace Luzern Bar &amp; Brasserie, with its black and white checkered marble floor and large circular bar counter, is an all-day-dining meeting point, to enjoy Asian dishes and great classics for lunch and dinner, and at afternoon tea champagne, sandwiches and exquisite pastries. Looking forward to the opening of a Japanese restaurant of only 6 seats, a terrace restaurant along the lake and another French one.
Overlooking the lake, and a few minutes' walk from the oldest and most lively nucleus of Lucerne, with its frescoed houses on the outside and the famous covered wooden bridge, the Mandarin Oriental Palace is also within walking distance of the KKL-JNF cultural center by Jean Nouvel which includes the Kunstmuseum and the famous concert hall with pluperfect acoustics.
