Coquillade Provence, which has just reopened with the first signs of spring, proudly displays its two Keys recently awarded by the 2024 Michelin Guide. The opportunity to rediscover, during a sunny weekend, this superb resort designed as an authentic Proven&ccedil;al village between vineyards and lavender fields of the Luberon.

There it&nbsp;has the vines, the olive trees, the lavender fields and the light of Provence which magnifies the stone of the villages perched on their hills. When he fell in love with this corner of Provence around twenty years ago, the Swiss businessman, Andreas Rhis, first planned to produce wine there. This was done with the purchase, at the end of 2006, of the vineyard renamed Aureto.&nbsp;A first achievement which will be, almost naturally, followed by the opening of a superb resort affiliated with Relais &amp; Ch&acirc;teaux. Cultivated in a sustainable and organic manner for years, the vines are now subject to even more <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/design/sustainable-bed-linen-comfort-and-sustainability-at-naughty-linen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">environmentally friendly</a> care, to the point that Aureto has, since last year, been one of the first climate-neutral vineyards in the south of France.

Originally , the hotel was located in what was the historic hamlet founded, according to legend, by the Cistercian monks of S&eacute;nanque Abbey : six beautiful dry stone houses standing on the hill for centuries. Faced with the success of these beautifully restored residences to welcome guests in the best comfort while respecting the spirit of simple and authentic hospitality of the Luberon, Andreas Rhis, joined by his sons Oliver and Tobias, decided to enlarge the domain a few years ago. Pink tiled roofs, ocher facades, the houses of the new hamlet match perfectly with the original buildings. Rudy Flament, the <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/people-of-ibiza/rolf-blakstad-ibiza-architect-portrait" target="_blank" rel="noopener">architect</a> in charge of the project, has remained faithful to what makes up the soul of the villages of this corner of Provence, drowning his buildings in an ocean of flowers and fragrant plants. Floor tiles, old beams, soft tones, the typically Provencal decoration harmonizes with a much more contemporary vision of the bathrooms. What gives all the charm to the rooms and suites of this magnificent estate is, obviously, the view that is offered to us regardless of where we are. To be admired from your room, your terrace, your jacuzzi or from your private swimming pool if you have chosen to stay in the magnificent Pool Suite.

New for 2024 are five superb suites with gardens and private swimming pools. Magnificent spaces, admirably decorated, which can be connected to obtain accommodation of up to 340m2. With, always, this panoramic view of one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Proven&ccedil;al hinterland.
And for large families or groups of friends, Coquillade has a beautiful residence, the Bastide des Vallats. Located in the plain of M&eacute;nerbes, at the foot of one of the most beautiful villages in the Luberon, it offers six rooms, a swimming pool surrounded by lavender and, of course, the hotel service provided by the Coquillade team.
Aureto wine​ which is the subject of all attention here, is obviously a must on the estate's tables. To accompany the fusion dishes of Chef Pierre Marty and the desserts of Aur&eacute;lien Trousse at the gourmet restaurant Avelan , for the Proven&ccedil;al flavors served under the arbor in the middle of the vineyard at the restaurant Les Vignes and even to enhance the Italian cuisine of Cipressa, at the edge of the incredible panoramic swimming pools.

Created at the same time as the extension, seven years ago, the Coquillade Spa is a real break of calm and relaxation which each year collects the best distinctions at the World Luxury Spa Awards, establishing itself as one of the best places of beauty in the world. Memory of Hermann Hesse

Novelist, poet, painter and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Hermann Hesse (1877-1962) often came to find inspiration in the hills of the Parc du Luberon. Great-grandson of the author of Siddhartha and Loup des Steppes, Oliver and Tobias Rhis wanted to pay tribute to him by exhibiting some of his beautifully bound literary works in the salons of Coquillade Provence. They specify: &ldquo;His work, imbued with humanism, is today part of the heritage of universal literature. His favourite themes such as the protection of nature and the quest for a purpose of existence higher than that of consumption remain major subjects of concern. &raquo;

Electric bike rides...

Force yourself to leave this refuge of charm and elegance. However, it would be a shame not to get to know this region better, which has some of the most beautiful hilltop villages in France. The Coquillade team invites you to take on the roads of the Luberon by bike. Before buying the hamlet of Coquillade, Andreas Rhys was the owner of the famous BMC bicycle brand which equips certain international cycling champions.
