Transformed into a main post office during the communist era, the building, whose architecture recalls that of the National Theater and the National Museum, has retained many elements of its past, such as the majestic staircase of the entrance, the imposing volumes and even the high glass counters that are now integrated into the decoration of the vast lounge-lobby. A typical Central European setting that has seduced several Hollywood directors. In order to be transformed into a luxury hotel, the old part of the palace was restored by the Italian architect duo Maurizio Papiri and Adam D. Tihany and the Czech architecture studio DAM was entrusted with the construction of a new wing at the back of the complex. The 152 rooms and suites are divided between the two wings. Elegant classical decoration with high ceilings, original works of art, period furniture and walls decorated with admirably restored frescoes in those that occupy the original building and refined contemporary furniture in those that overlook the interior garden. In its monumental setting, the 1890 restaurant (in homage to the year the neo-Renaissance palace was inaugurated) spreads its tables in cosy niches sheltered by velvet curtains to preserve the privacy of diners. It serves international cuisine based on local culinary traditions. For a few months now, the new menu has been designed by <a href="https://www.instagram.com/josefvotocek/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Josef Votoček</a> . A chef who brings to this role his passion for gastronomy and an innovative approach to traditional recipes. An approach for which he relies on a network of local producers. We particularly like the pikeperch, beetroot, leeks, raspberries and almonds, the Jerusalem artichoke sirloin, Perigord Brussels sprouts or these delicious flax seed, cucumber, dill and crème fraîche pancakes…

After a day of walking around the city in the cold of winter, it is good to take refuge in the hotel Spa. A very large space entirely dedicated to well-being and relaxation which offers treatment rooms for signature massages and facials, a hammam and sauna area, relaxation rooms as well as a huge swimming pool over twenty meters long lined with jacuzzi.
