A contemporary and playful reinterpretation of the archives of the great French maison is the starting point for the inauguration of the new creative director: Harris Reed

The <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEJVvr8UcSs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nina Ricci fall winter 2023-24</a> collection marks the debut of Harris Reed as creative director of the Maison. The designer's playful take embraces the romantic drama of the House's couture shows in the exuberant '80s and '90s era, expressed by Nina Ricci in micro-pliss&eacute; tulle, bold polka dots, jewel tones, and extra silhouettes. For this season Reed gives it a different interpretation, transforming <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/young-designers-to-watch-nyfw-fall-winter-2023" target="_blank" rel="noopener">haute couture</a> into a fun show with a high level of experimentation: extravagant outerwear and dresses that capture the spotlight - all energized by oversized details such as dizzying platform shoes. Part of the collection is also the collaboration with the German artist Jeanine Brito. Self-taught and with a background in graphic design, Brito's work explores the themes of memory and desire. Symbols from Nina Rissi's archive including the 'Three Graces', doves, apples and flowers have been imaginatively transposed by Brito into a theatrical and surrealist context, marking the first step of an ongoing collaboration with the Maison.

Nina Ricci seemed like my idealization of Paris: a dreamy romance, with a deep respect for femininity, but ultimately feeling light-hearted and accessible to all types of women. For my inaugural collection, I wanted to nod to the extraordinary history of the Maison while reinterpreting those feminine codes for a modern consumer in a poetic, humorous and gender-fluid way. I like dressing people who want to have fun in clothes that have meaning and purpose. Tailoring, evening dresses, sportswear and denim combine in a day-to-night wardrobe proposal in a mix and match between the past and the future. From outerwear to loungewear in a shiny key, we move on to the evening, with short cocktail dresses. For the evening, short cocktail dresses in taffeta and again dresses in polka dot or micro-pliss&eacute; tulle, which are embellished with the ever-present bows. With the appointment of 26-year-old Creative Director Harris Reed, the Maison welcomes the youngest creative mind in its history (starting as far back as 1932) to bring a fresh perspective to the legacy of Nina Ricci.
