I&rsquo;m always on the lookout for things that make me look better without making it look like I did something. One thing I&rsquo;m big on is collagen. It can change your skin over time, not overnight, in a way that people just think you look well-rested. So when the opportunity to try UltraClear Laser came up, I was more than happy to try it.
Only a few clinics in the Philippines offer UltraClear Laser, and one of them is Luminisce Prima, the newest and fourth clinic under the Luminisce umbrella. Led by Dr Kristina &ldquo;Kaycee&rdquo; Reyes Bacani, a well-ageing and wellness expert with serious international training, the clinic has been around since 2012.

Before jumping into the laser, my doctor suggested starting with Luminisce&rsquo;s Luxury Facial. It&rsquo;s their original facial, and the one people keep going back for: deep cleansing, extractions, hydration, ultrasound-assisted vitamin delivery, oxygenation, plus a facial massage that actually relaxes your face. At 45 minutes, it felt like properly prepping my skin for the treatment ahead. By the end, my face felt unbelievably clean, and we still hadn&rsquo;t even gotten to the laser yet.
After another acne-focused cleanse, topical anaesthesia went on. Then, it was time. I usually expect some level of discomfort at first pulse, but UltraClear surprised me. It wasn&rsquo;t painful. More like quick zaps and slight warmth that was very manageable. At one point, I almost fell asleep.
One of the doctors explained why it feels different. UltraClear is a cold fibre laser. Unlike older lasers that rely heavily on heat and can sometimes trigger pigmentation issues, this one focuses on controlled resurfacing and collagen stimulation while keeping thermal damage low. In addition to smoothing the surface, it thickens the dermis, improves texture, helps with laxity and even reduces the visibility of melasma by strengthening the skin itself.

Right after the treatment, my face was red and felt raw, which they had already warned me about. I went home with Beta-Gentac cream and a very clear set of instructions. No washing for 24 hours. No sun for two weeks. No picking. No activities. Sunscreen every day. Downtime is part of the deal with UltraClear, and you really do have to respect it.
I work from home and I&rsquo;m pretty strict with rules, so I leaned fully into recovery mode. I went as far as taking breaks from workouts (sweat isn&rsquo;t your friend with peeling). I made sure to eat clean, forgoing junk and sugar. Less is more, though, when it comes to facial care at the first few days. I did gentle cleansing once it was allowed, but kept to just Micellar water, beta-genta, moisturiser, and sunblock. And repeat. By day five, my skin had (almost) fully healed. Don&rsquo;t get me wrong, there was a lot of Googling during my downtime. My worst fear was that I would still look raw after a week, which is what some experience. Luckily, I didn&rsquo;t and Luminisce does ask you questions before treatment to make sure that your skin is fit for UltraClear Laser.
