Stella McCartney launches skincare line made with natural ingredients, but criticizes the Clean Beauty movement

<a href="https://www.revistalofficiel.com.br/fashion-week/stella-mccartney-inverno22-pfw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Stella McCartney</a> has just launched a new minimalist and more sustainable <a href="https://www.revistalofficiel.com.br/beleza/beleza-na-geladeira-por-que-refrigerar-produtos-de-skincare" target="_blank" rel="noopener">skincare</a> line, in partnership with the beauty division of conglomerate LVMH. However, she considers the &quot;Clean Beauty&quot; movement pure greenwashing - a term used to describe beauty brands that use concepts of environmental protection only as marketing, without actually working in ecologically correct processes. “I understand that people use the term &#39;clean beauty&#39; because it brings an ideal of purity, but I would never use it to describe my line&quot;, he revealed. &quot;Language is very important, the research we are doing in this line for over 2 years is real. And now we run the risk of seeing all that work watered down many times because of marketing terms like that,&quot; he continued.

Activist for sustainable fashion and known for being one of the first designers to bring this concept to the fashion world, Stella seeks with her own skincare line to inspire a &quot;clean conscience&quot; and a minimalist routine, presenting only three products that are refillable and produced with packaging made from recycled glass. “The truth is that everything we create has an environmental impact, so the choice we have is about the size of the impact we can and want to allow. It is our responsibility to minimize it as much as possible, and to always be honest and transparent about it with the public.”

With a facial cleanser, a moisturizer and a serum, the &quot;Stella&quot; brand also aims to bridge the gap between luxury and disposable beauty. &quot;I want to provide something that doesn&#39;t exist yet (...) For me, skin care is not superficial, it&#39;s a necessity,&quot; she explains. Realistic, she understands that the brand cannot be 100% organic and sustainable yet. “You can have 99.7% natural organic ingredients, but you&#39;ll end up having to use a single ingredient whose organic version doesn&#39;t exist yet,” he said.
