For the start of the school year, Weekend Max Mara signs its tenth Signature capsule, with, this season, the famous Spanish architect Patricia Urquiola. Entitled Habito, this colorful line playing on the effects of volume is an invitation to comfort.

The Weekend Max Mara Signature project, which each season unveils a capsule designed in collaboration with an artist or creative, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. After photographer Micol Sabbadini, interior designer Anthony Baratta, Oscar-winning costume designer Gabriella Pescucci, fashion editor Lucinda Chambers, illustrator and pop artist Donald Robertson, to name but a few, it&#39;s now the turn by architect Patricia Urquiola to get caught up in the collection game. On this occasion, she imagines a loose and comfortable fashion that corresponds in every way to her way of designing an interior: “ My work is a daily research on the way in which we can inhabit a space. Why not have the same approach with clothes? They are parts of our homes that we take with us. This capsule thus focuses on hybrid pieces that welcome you like a home. An emotional habitat. ”

This hybridization, omnipresent in this collection, manifests itself in the form of associations of graphic patterns, colors and textures. A blouse turns into a pullover while coats and quilted jackets play the game of layering. Each garment is a reinterpretation of existing Weekend Max Mara silhouettes, mainly cocoon-shaped and combining traditional wools and ribbed knits.

THREE QUESTIONS TO PATRICIA URQUIOLA L&#39;OFFICIEL: How did your training as an architect help you to work on this collection? PATRICIA URQUIOLA: Whether it&#39;s the design of an interior or that of clothing, there are many common points, whether we&#39;re talking about volumes, colors or the relationship with light. L&#39;O: There are many colors, how did you choose them? PU: In contrast to the typical earthy tones of Weekend Max Mara, I chose strong colors, from orange to mint green to purple. Colors contribute to the shape and design of a garment. We have also worked on the choice of fabrics to reinforce this point of view. L&#39;O : What kind of woman do you see wearing this collection? PU: I approached the collection as a woman and not just as a designer. The clothes are designed for everyday life, so I imagined Habito thinking of the women I know, their daily needs, and also mine.
